Popular Civil Society Activist Edmond Abu Jr has urged President Julius Maada Bio to call to order Juldeh Shaw, Sonoco Guinea, Pee Cee and Sons and all flour importers to reverse the 90% Hike in the price of a bag of flour from NLe 780 to Le 1,500 against the backdrop of an eminent strike action from Bakers and artificial scarcity created by importers.

He urged president Bio to intervene because the bread and butter issue matters. He added that before the Ramadan, the price of flour was 750 and just over one week, the prices have sky rocketed. He disagrees with Pee Cee and Sons who claimed that the price of Flour was 850. He further expressed dissatisfaction over the role of the current trade Minister Hinga Sandy to address the current flour issue. He urged the President to further ask questions to Sonoco about their proposed bakery construction at Wellington.

Abu was astonished as a majority of these importers who are creating the artificial scarcity are Muslims and are observing the holy month of Ramadan.

He further pointed out a discrepancy between Sierra Leone and The Gambia during the observation of the Month of Ramadan. In Gambia, he affirmed that the prices of commodities normally dwindle during the month of Ramadan while Sierra Leone is the opposite.

Meanwhile, he condemned the recent killing of police officer ASP Gbanya in Makeni. He expressed sympathy to the family and urged that people should not celebrate the unfortunate incident. He admonished Sierra Leoneans to refrain from violence as people should learn from the Civil war as post-conflict country. He cautioned that those that are fanning the flame of violence of may one day feel it wrath directly or indirectly.
He encapsulate that if any politician from the two major Political Parties SLPP And APC are responsible for fanning the flame of violence, they will surely feel the ripple effect.
