The Sierra Leone Embassy in Ankara, Turkey has disclosed that no Sierra Leonean was involved in the earthquake disaster, which struck Turkey on Monday, 6 February 2023.
The 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the different cities of Turkiye has left large scale of destruction of lives and properties. Over 6000 have been reported dead so far.
In response, the Sierra Leone Embassy in Turkey states that they have been in constant communication with the Turkish authority and the leadership of the Sierra Leone community in Turkiye, and confirmed that no Sierra Leonean is yet to be involved in the accident.
“While we continue to monitor the situation, the embassy expressed its deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences the government and people of the Republic Of Turkiye over the loss of lives and properties, and pray that God almighty comforts the families of the deceased, and grant speedy recovery to the wounded,” the Embassy stated.
