As humanity works overtime to scrub off the scent of pandemic era which rampaged the entertainment industry and threatened a devastating resurgence, we’ve all witnessed a boom in outdoor activities globally and in Sierra Leone.

Entertainers and musicians are not left out of this and have doubled down to create soundtracks to support the wave and thanks to this, we’ve had a sonically hotter year, with the airwaves taken captive by banger tracks after banger tracks.

Last year 2021, Sierraloaded started the Hottest Artiste List, an undiluted run down of the Artistes that shaped, defined and led music among Sierra Leonean consumers throughout the year.

This list underscores the entertainers who scored the biggest hits, tours, mega moves on the local and international scene, the award winners, and in general, the people we’ve listened and danced to for the past 12 months

Boss La – #7

It may have been a year of many ups and down for Alhaji Amadu Bah alias ‘Boss La’ or ‘LAJ’ but the history of Sierra Leone music in 2022 cannot be written with his name missing.

Very rare do you find a wave that sweeps through the industry come in form of a person rather than a dance, sound or style, but the RFM Boss has proved to be the exception rather than the norm. Since gaining his limelight way back in 2009 when he surfaced with his hit single “Money Na Bank”, Boss La but built an enviable record of impact.

In 2021, Boss La gave us arguably the most controversial song of the year, ‘Complain’ featuring Arkman, ITribe & Rap Gee. He then quickly returned to the studio with ‘Salone Man Too Talk’, ‘Noto So Ya Bin Dae’ and ‘Pincher’. The effect of these hit songs were still being felt across musical airwaves when the RFM rapper dropped “Asma” and “H.E”, another song addressing the socio-economic situation in the country.

Talk about collaborations, Boss La holds record of being the most featured musician in 2022 with at least 8 artistes enlisting his vocal prowess. They include Atical Foyoh, Jooel, Sharp Boy, Abizzy, Nasser Ayoub, Cool J, Mellon Seven, Cedex, amongst others.

Mid 2022 saw Boss La’s name consistently appearing on media pages after He was arrested in June on allegation of robbery with violence at the Leonco gas station in Freetown. Boss La has appeared court several times these past months but He is yet to be granted bail.

Despite spending half the year in police custody, Boss La sounds have continued to hit the airwaves and this shows much He is loved and the level of respect he commands in the industry. In summary, a 7th spot for Boss La defines how much of a stellar year he has had. Ultimately, his fans would get to enjoy more of him when released from detention.
