Peace Ambassador and hip-hop artist Alhaji Amadu Bah, popularly known as Boss La, has addressed the recent social media feud between him and fellow hip-hop artist Amara Denis Turay, also known as Kao Denero.
The discussion took place during a Facebook Live broadcast, where Boss La shared his thoughts on the ongoing tensions.
Boss La explained that since his release from prison, he has maintained his peace, despite others dragging his name into controversies.
“All this while, I have heard and seen, but as a Peace Ambassador who wants peace for this country, I believe my job is to complain, though it’s sometimes tough,” he said.
He mentioned that he has taken his complaints to higher authorities with supporting evidence. However, he pointed out that the only individuals not directly receiving his complaints were His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, and possibly the First Lady. “I believe I’ve gone to the extreme for them to know the bullying I’m going through,” he added.
Boss La recounted a disturbing incident in which someone sent him a photo of Kao Denero and his associates holding a pistol. He noted that if he had been involved in such an incident, he would have likely been incarcerated.
“One of Kao Denero’s boys was on social media threatening the life of another Sierra Leonean while holding a pistol. I made all these reports, yet when a voice message from Kao Denero went viral claiming he was walking around with a pistol looking for me, who questioned him? No one.”
He criticized Kao Denero for using his affiliation with the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) as a justification for making threats.
“Is it okay for someone to threaten another person just because they campaigned for SLPP? Are you the only one who campaigned for SLPP?” Boss La questioned.
He further criticized Kao Denero for making statements about turning Sierra Leone into Jamaica, where people would start disappearing, adding that such statements went unchallenged.
As an Entertainment Ambassador, Boss La stated that Kao Denero’s role should be to unite the industry, but instead, Kao Denero has created conflicts with almost every entertainer.
“Even when you send birthday wishes to people, there’s always some form of provocation. You claim to be campaigning for SLPP, but whenever people condemn you, you stir up more issues,” he said.
Boss La also shared his thoughts on Myk Berewa’s intervention, calling for both him and Kao Denero to “man up” and leave their childish behavior behind. He accused Myk of once wishing him death while he was in prison but later greeting him after his release. Boss La described a meeting with Myk when the feud between him and Kao Denero began. Myk had assured him he would speak to Kao Denero, but now, according to Boss La, Myk is refusing to address the issue honestly. “You can’t tell Kao Denero the truth but want to blame both of us for negativity,” he said.
Boss La pointed to an earlier peace talk, organized by Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh, between him and Kao Denero. He emphasized that the meeting had been attended by people of high caliber, and he had always adhered to their advice.
“We are no longer children. How long are we going to keep arguing over the same issues? Since 2009, this has been the same matter. I’ve been praising you in interviews in the name of peace,” he said, expressing his frustration at Kao Denero’s continued provocations.
He also criticized Myk Berewa for discussing the issue publicly on Facebook instead of arranging a private conversation with Kao Denero.
“Bringing it to social media implies that you are looking for likes and comments,” he said, adding that Myk had engaged in social media fights with others without resolving his own issues.
Regarding the ‘Eyor’ Beach Festival, Boss La explained that Kao Denero had disrespected his ex-girlfriend and baby mama, provoked RFM fans, and even brandished a pistol on stage. In retaliation, Boss La performed a freestyle that included insults aimed at Kao Denero’s wife, which he called a “complement” for Kao Denero’s actions. He accused Kao Denero of causing the public disrespect they both received.
Finally, Boss La addressed the issue with Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) boss Francis Ben Kaifala. He accused Kaifala and Kao Denero of insulting him on stage, with no one condemning their actions.
“Ben Kaifala’s post was good. He has the right to support whoever he wants, but using my picture in the background sends a message. You are provoking me and trying to disturb the peace of the nation,” Boss La concluded.
