In a recent statement, popular Sierra Leonean US-based musician Menace the General, now My Dearest Gift (MDG) shared his perspective on the country’s political landscape and called for unity and peaceful acceptance of election results.

The musician, known for his patriotic and revolutionary lyrics, expressed his experiences and concerns during the last election, highlighting the need for genuine change and a shift in mentality among Sierra Leoneans.

Menace the General emphasized that he actively engaged with the people on the ground, rather than getting involved in social media drama.

He played his role as a patriotic citizen, focusing on civic education and advocating for what he believed would bring positive change to the nation.

However, he observed that Sierra Leone still has a long way to go, and the prevailing loyalty to the two major political parties hinders progress beyond personal affiliations.

According to Menace the General, the election campaigns primarily revolved around festivities and performances, with the emphasis placed on the colors and showmanship of the rallies, rather than addressing the fundamental needs of the people.

He lamented the absence of a nationally televised election debate, where citizens could directly question and assess the candidates’ achievements, plans, and qualifications.

The musician urged like-minded individuals to focus on making incremental changes in their own lives, homes, and communities, rather than engaging in stagnant and divisive political conversations.

He emphasized that peaceful acceptance of the election results, regardless of the winner, is crucial.

Menace the General called for unity in rejecting division and incompetent leadership, urging Sierra Leoneans to come together to build a better future for the country.
