One of Sierra Leone’s most celebrated female rap artists, Linda Samai, popularly known as Star Zee, is gearing up to host one of the biggest musical events of 2025: Ladies Fest.

Scheduled for February 21st at the Radisson Blu Garden in Aberdeen, Freetown, the show promises to be a night of electrifying performances, star-studded appearances, and, quite possibly, the reignition of a long-standing rivalry between two of the country’s most prominent music groups, RFM and Black Leo.

The event, which is already generating buzz on social media, will feature a lineup of top-tier artists, including Boss LA, Kao Denero, Famous, Shady Baby, Kassim De Wizard, Anita, Aminish, Tasha, and others. Adding to the excitement, Nigerian DJs Wanni X Hindi, former Big Brother Naija contestants, will be spinning tracks as special guests.

But beyond the music, Ladies Fest is shaping up to be a cultural moment that could spark fresh tensions between Boss LA and Kao Denero, two artists whose rivalry has dominated Sierra Leone’s music scene for years.

The feud between Boss LA and Kao Denero is no secret. Their ongoing battle for supremacy in Sierra Leone’s rap industry has often played out in public, with their fans—Team RFM and Team Black Leo—taking sides and fueling the drama. The tension reached a boiling point earlier this year at the Eyor Festival in January 2025, where a viral video showed fans snubbing Kao Denero during his performance and chanting for Boss LA to take the stage.

The situation escalated when Boss LA, during his set, name-dropped Kao Denero’s wife in a freestyle, a move that Kao Denero deemed disrespectful. In a live Facebook broadcast after the event, Boss LA defended his actions, claiming it was retaliation for Kao Denero’s previous disrespect toward his baby mama, Delvaquo.

The rivalry didn’t end there. Days after the Eyor Festival, Kao Denero made a strategic move by signing two former RFM artists, Rap Gee and Mikeo D Don, to his label. Alongside his team—K Rap and Medlenero—Kao Denero released a new hit single, All Game Final, which boldly claims supremacy in Sierra Leone’s rap scene.

With both Boss LA and Kao Denero set to perform at Ladies Fest, fans are bracing for another potential clash. The two artists have a history of using their performances to take jabs at each other, and their loyal fan bases are always ready to amplify the drama.

Star Zee, the brains behind Ladies Fest, is no stranger to organizing high-energy shows with unforgettable performances. This time, however, the event could become a battleground for the RFM and Black Leo rivalry. While Star Zee aims to celebrate women and showcase Sierra Leone’s vibrant music scene, the underlying tension between the two groups threatens to steal the spotlight.

The question remains: will “Ladies Fest” be a celebration of Sierra Leonean talent, or will it become another battleground in the ongoing saga of Boss LA and Kao Denero? The answer will unfold on February 21st.
