The Ministry of Health has deployed medical teams, emergency equipment, and response assets to Lungi as part of preparations for the commissioning of the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre and the 2026 ECOWAS Mid-Year Summit of Heads of State and Government.

The deployment, ahead of the high-level events scheduled for 18 and 19 July 2026, includes healthcare personnel, essential medical supplies, two fully equipped ambulances, and the Hospital on Wheels (Mobile Medical Clinic) to ensure a rapid and coordinated emergency response.

The operation was led by the Director of Hospital and Ambulance Services, Mr. Ibrahim Foday-Musa, the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Dr. Patricia Bah, and officials from the National Medical Supplies Agency (NMSA).

As part of the medical preparedness plan, healthcare workers have been assigned to Lungi Government Hospital to strengthen emergency and clinical services. Two consultant physicians and one senior nursing officer have also been stationed at the Presidential Clinic within the conference centre to provide immediate medical support to Heads of State and other high-level dignitaries.

The Hospital on Wheels and ambulances will remain on standby at the conference venue to provide emergency stabilization and referral services whenever required.

Addressing the deployed healthcare workers, Mr. Foday-Musa emphasized the importance of teamwork, professionalism, and punctuality. He informed staff that full operations would commence the following morning, with all personnel expected to report for duty by 8:00 a.m.

He explained that only three healthcare workers would be stationed at the Presidential Clinic, while the remaining staff would provide medical coverage through the Hospital on Wheels, ambulances, and Lungi Government Hospital. He added that duty rosters had been developed to ensure continuous and efficient service delivery throughout the summit.

The Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Dr. Patricia Bah, encouraged nurses to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, compassion, and discipline while carrying out their duties.
