ABM Building Materials’ proprietor, Ashok Adwani, was summoned to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on November 16, 2023, in response to allegations of engaging in fraudulent transactions amounting to Le 6.6 billion old Leones.

Standard Times Newspaper ReportsThe accusations are linked to financial dealings with Mahamud Aehtesham Aman, the former Sales Manager at Al-Hamd Enterprise, Texaco, located in the eastern region of Freetown.

An audit revealed that ABM Building Materials owed over 6.6 billion Old Leones to Al-Hamd Company, with records indicating a deliberate undervaluation of goods by over three billion Leones. This suspected connivance with the former manager raised concerns during the reconciliation of sales and available funds.

The CID investigation aims to compel Mr. Ashok to explain the clandestine accumulation of funds, revealing that ABM Building Materials was secretly indebted by over 3.6 billion Old Leones. Failure to provide a satisfactory explanation may lead to legal charges in court.

While Ashok Adwani was reportedly released on medical grounds, he is required to report back to the CID. Attempts to obtain his response at the Criminal Investigations Department proved unsuccessful, leaving the unfolding situation with lingering questions about the alleged fraudulent activities and the potential legal consequences for the ABM Building Materials proprietor.
