On Friday, September 13, 2024, an agreement was signed for the construction of a modern mini stadium in Tihun Sogbini Chiefdom, Bonthe District.

The signing ceremony took place at the residence of Paramount Chief Prince Lansana Bio and was attended by key figures in Sierra Leone’s sports development sector. Among the dignitaries present were Madam Augusta James-Teima, the Minister of Sports; Mr. Jusu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sports; Mr. Momodu Alpha, Senior Sports Development Officer; and several Section Chiefs from the Tihun Sogbini Chiefdom.

The mini stadium project is seen as a significant investment in youth development, local sports infrastructure, and community cohesion. In her remarks, Minister Augusta James-Teima emphasized the importance of sports as a tool for youth empowerment and social development, noting that the stadium will create opportunities for young athletes in the region. Paramount Chief Prince Lansana Bio expressed gratitude to the government and stakeholders for recognizing the need for improved sports facilities in the chiefdom.

The stadium, once completed, will serve as a hub for various sporting activities, including football and athletics, and is expected to foster a sense of pride and unity within the community. The agreement marks a critical step in advancing sports infrastructure in rural Sierra Leone, bringing hope and excitement to the people of Bonthe District.
