A Salesman, Alie Koroma has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by a High Court in Freetown after he was found guilty of fraudulent conversion and stealing of goods worth NLe36, 000,000.

According to the particulars of the offence, the complainant had given Koroma Johnson baby lotion products for sale. However, He fraudulently conspired with other unknown persons to steal the goods.

Concord Times reports that the Judge in charge of the case, Justice Alusine Sesay noted that the convict had pleaded guilty to the offence and had not caused any delay in court proceedings. Additionally, the judge acknowledged that the convict was a first-time offender and a young man with potential. During his plea mitigation, the convict expressed remorse and asked for leniency, promising not to repeat his actions.

The defense counsel, Lawyer Cecilia Tucker from Legal Aid Board, also pleaded for mercy on behalf of the convict, highlighting his status as a family man and first-time offender. She emphasized that the convict had learned from his time at the Male Correctional Centre and had demonstrated remorse by pleading guilty to the charge.

After considering both the convict’s and defense counsel’s pleas, Justice Sesay sentenced the convict to a 2-year prison term, including time already served. The judge also ordered the convict to pay NLe2,000,000 in compensation to the victim upon completion of his sentence.
