The All Peoples Congress (APC) has announced the postponement of its constituency lower-level elections, citing the party’s ongoing period of mourning following the recent loss of senior party leaders and stalwarts.

In a public notice issued by the party’s National Secretariat on 23 June 2026, the APC stated that the elections, which were initially scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, have been deferred and will now be conducted on Saturday, 4 July 2026.

According to the notice, the decision was reached following consultations with the Independent Elections Management Committee (IEMC).

The party explained that the postponement would provide members across the country with sufficient time to participate in mourning and bereavement activities while maintaining unity and solidarity within the party.

The APC noted that the period of reflection following the loss of prominent party figures made it necessary to adjust the electoral timetable in order to allow members to fully engage in the ongoing mourning process.

The National Secretariat further urged aspirants, delegates, stakeholders, and party members to use the additional time to strengthen engagement within their respective constituencies and adequately prepare for the elections.

The party emphasized that the successful conduct of the lower-level elections remains vital to its internal democratic processes and the continued strengthening of its organizational structures.

The APC also called on members to participate peacefully and responsibly in the electoral process, stressing the importance of unity, mutual respect, and comradeship throughout the exercise.

The postponed elections form part of the party’s internal electoral process aimed at selecting constituency-level officials and laying the foundation for subsequent stages of its internal democratic activities.
