After a period of detainment by authorities, Mr. Abubakar Boxx Konteh, the Organizing Secretary for the opposition All People’s Congress in the North West Region, has made his first public appearance. Konteh’s emergence comes following his release from police custody.

In a recent social media post, Konteh shared insights into how he spent Sierra Leone’s Independence Day on April 27th. With a brief but poignant message, he wrote,

This is how I spent my April 27th, the Sheriffs, Tarawallys and the Kontehs, it is well.”

Konteh’s ordeal began when he was among five Sierra Leonean nationals arrested in March by Guinean authorities in Conakry. The group was reportedly apprehended in possession of a significant quantity of illegal synthetic drugs that were allegedly smuggled into the country.

On Friday, April 12, 2024, Konteh was extradited to Sierra Leone for questioning by the Sierra Leone Police. Following a period of interrogations, he was subsequently granted bail and released from police custody, allowing him to resume his public activities.
