Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has begun the harvest of a 37-acre cassava farm in Wombay Village, Pujehun District. The project is part of his personal support for President Julius Maada Bio’s Feed Salone initiative, which aims to improve national food self-sufficiency.

Alongside the harvest, Dr. Sengeh also introduced a garri production scheme connected to the plantation. The processing initiative is intended to promote local food production, contribute to rural employment, and support regional food security efforts.

Residents of Wombay Village welcomed the development and acknowledged the potential benefits of local investment in agriculture and food processing. The conversion of cassava into garri, a commonly consumed staple in Sierra Leone, is expected to help stabilize food supply and prices in nearby markets.

Dr. Sengeh’s initiative in Wombay Village aligns with the broader national vision of transforming agriculture into a sustainable engine for development. It reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to reduce dependency on imported food and support rural communities with practical, impactful investments.

With harvest season now underway, the Chief Minister reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring that Feed Salone delivers tangible benefits to households across the country.
