Prominent Sierra Leonean political figure and former Minister of Social Welfare, Gender, and Children’s Affairs, Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden OOR, has strongly denied rumors circulating in today’s edition of Salone Times, claiming that she has expressed ambitions to run for the presidency under the All People’s Congress (APC) in 2028.

The Salone Times, in a story published by Engineer Andrew Keili’s newspaper, suggested that Dr. Blyden had made public declarations regarding her intentions for the 2028 presidential race. The article, which featured her name and photo, has caused a stir within political circles, prompting Dr. Blyden to swiftly set the record straight.

In a clear and unequivocal statement, Dr. Blyden refuted the claims as entirely false, stating, “I have not expressed any 2028 APC presidential ambitions to any entity.” She went on to emphasize that her current focus is far removed from the political sphere and is instead centered on advancing her academic career in law.

“My main focus now is equipping myself in the field of Law through my academic studies for my LLM Master’s degree in Constitutional Law, Human Rights & Criminal Justice,” Dr. Blyden explained. The former APC stalwart and renowned journalist reiterated that her commitment at this time lies in her legal studies and professional growth.

Dr. Blyden, who is well-known for her dedication to human rights, good governance, and justice in Sierra Leone, sought to dispel any misinformation circulating about her political ambitions. She reaffirmed her loyalty to the All People’s Congress, adding, “May God bless the All Peoples Congress, Amen.”
