Deputy Minister of Energy 1 and SLPP East Rural District Chairman, Dr. Eldred Taylor, awarded a total of NLe 25,000 to winners and runners-up of the President Julius Maada Bio Trophy during a well-attended ceremony at the Old Trafford Playing Field in Nyandehun Community on Sunday.
The tournament, organized by local stakeholders, highlighted grassroots efforts to support President Bio’s “Big Five Agenda” by fostering community cohesion and empowering young people. Crowds from Nyandehun and surrounding areas gathered for the final matches, which also saw third- and fourth-place teams receiving football jerseys as prizes.
Speaking at the event, community leaders praised Dr. Taylor’s leadership, crediting his inclusive governance for transforming Koya’s political landscape. They also applauded President Bio for his development initiatives, particularly in energy projects set to benefit the district.
Dr. Taylor expressed gratitude to the Nyandehun community for maintaining peace throughout the tournament. He emphasized football’s ability to unite communities and highlighted the exemplary sportsmanship displayed by all participants.
“The prize money symbolizes President Bio’s unwavering dedication to grassroots development and youth empowerment,” Dr. Taylor said.
