Nigerian music superstar and entrepreneur Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has officially launched a new pan-African online gaming platform, Chopwin, in Sierra Leone, marking a significant expansion into the country’s growing digital entertainment sector.

The launch was held at the New Brookfields Hotel in Freetown, where stakeholders, policymakers, and entertainment figures gathered for a high-level seminar themed “Responsible Gaming in Sierra Leone.” The event also doubled as the official unveiling of Chopwin’s operations in the country.

Chopwin, a subsidiary of the Choplife Gaming group, is already operational in countries including Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, and Uganda. Its entry into Sierra Leone forms part of a broader continental expansion strategy built on regulatory compliance, mobile-first innovation, and responsible gaming advocacy.

Speaking at the event, Dico kargbo operations manager emphasized that its Sierra Leone operations are fully managed by Sierra Leoneans, a move presented as both a localisation strategy and a contribution to job creation within the digital economy.

The platform is designed as a fully mobile-based online casino, offering users access to fast-paced games such as Aviator and JetX, alongside various spin-and-win instant games popular across African markets. According to the company, the system is optimized for low-data usage and supports small-stake participation, making it widely accessible to smartphone users.

A key feature highlighted during the launch was its integration with local mobile money services, including Orange Money and Afri Money, allowing users to deposit and withdraw winnings directly to their mobile wallets within seconds.

To reinforce security and compliance, Chopwin has introduced strict verification measures requiring users to submit a valid national ID and complete selfie verification before accessing the platform. The company says these safeguards are intended to prevent fraud and ensure only users aged 18 and above participate.

The event also featured an interactive demonstration of the platform, followed by the introduction of the “Chop Babes,” who serve as brand ambassadors tasked with promoting safe and responsible gaming practices within communities.

A panel discussion brought together representatives from government and civil society, including Hon. Mohammed Barrie (MP, Bombali District), who described betting as part of modern digital leisure, and Mr. John Buckle from the Ministry of Social Welfare, who stressed the importance of protecting minors and vulnerable users. Julie M. Roland, Head of Brand Experience at Chopwin, outlined the platform’s verification systems and responsible gaming framework.

Chopwin is operated by Choplife Gaming, a gaming operator licensed in multiple African countries. The company says its goal is to set new standards for fairness, transparency, and player protection across regulated markets.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Eazi, who also serves as the founder and “Minister of Chopwin,” described the platform as a fusion of entertainment, culture, and opportunity.

“We are building a company where entertainment meets opportunities, and where the energy of our culture shows up in everything we do. We want to build something that feels like us smart, bold, ambitious, and unapologetically African,” he said.

With its official entry into Sierra Leone, Chopwin says it aims to redefine the country’s online gaming landscape by combining innovation, accessibility, local empowerment, and responsible gaming under a single digital platform.
