The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has on the 14th June 2023 rolled out voter education to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in Kenema.
The delegation from ECSL was led by the Regional Electoral Commissioner, East, Marian Sia Nyuma-Moijueh, who engaged and educated Police Personnel in Kenema on the proportional Representation System and its related situation ahead of the June 24th election.
The Regional Police Commander East, Andrew Mustapha Kamara while welcoming the delegation maintained that he was pleased with the visit and that the session will allow the personnel to understand in detail what the PR system is, and also how it was going to be for personnel who will be deployed in locations where they do not register.
He assured the ECSL team of their security and added that the information they have dished out would be used judiciously.
In her statement, Commissioner Moijueh started by informing all that the forthcoming election would be conducted using the District Block System adding that, in the PR system, the ballot papers would carry the photos of the Presidential, Mayoral, and District Council Chairman and their respective symbols, whereas the other contestants would be represented by the various symbols only.

He said Personnel, who registered in Kenema City for instance, and are deployed in Kenema City, but not at the same registration center, would be allowed to vote for all contestants. Also, those who would be deployed outside Kenema city but within the District, would be as well allowed to vote for the parliamentary, District Council, and Presidential adding that, those who registered outside the District and Region would only be permitted to vote for the Presidential candidate only.
