Farmers in the Kori chiefdom moyamba District are facing a dire situation as severe flooding has devastated dozens of farms across the chiefdom. Villages such as Fogbo, Baoya, Waima, and Vaama, situated along the Taia River, are particularly affected, resulting in significant setbacks for local agricultural production.
Reports indicate that this year’s flooding is unprecedented, with many farmers losing their entire crops. The relentless waters have not only destroyed fields but have also left families struggling to find food, raising concerns about food insecurity in the area.
Local farmers are calling on the government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for immediate assistance. “We have nothing to eat or feed our families,” one farmer lamented. “We urgently need help to recover from this disaster.”
As the situation worsens, the community is united in its plea for support to restore their livelihoods and ensure that they can sustain their families in the coming months. The farmers hope that with timely intervention, they can begin to rebuild and prepare for future planting seasons.
