In the night hours of Sunday, 13th April, 2025, a gruesome fire consumed the home of the town Chief in Bamoiluma Masorie, Kambia District, Magbema Chiefdom.
As reported by the District Coordinator for Children and Youths for Peace Agency Sierra Leone, Mohamed A. Sesay, there was no immediate response from neither the national fire force, nor the disaster management, which left the entire structure burnt down into ashes.
Although there is an official building of fire force there at Kambia District, but Sesay claimed that the office is not functional, urging the government to put the office to work, as he said, the district needs fire force.
Sesay affirmed that, during the Civic Day, which was organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, the people of Kambia persistently requested for a fire force service in their districts. “During the Civic Day that was held here in Kambia, the people raised concerns about the need for fire force,” he asserted.
Mohamed Sesay questioned, “what is the use of this fire force building in Kambia?” Stressing the need for fire force service in the town.
Following the report, no casualty or death has been reported yet. More information regarding the cause and damages of the incident will be made available as the situation unfolds.
