All Nation Primary School Head Teacher, Salifu Conteh who represents the proprietor Mulai Kamara (Rev) at the NASSIT Court, on Saturday 5th February 2022, was dragged to Court for not complying with the NASSIT Act.
The defendant is charged with a count of failing to pay social contributions contrary to section 32 (1) (C) of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust Act No. 5 of 2001. Particulars of offence alleges that All Nation Primary School, as represented by Mulai Kamara (Rev), which is an establishment and employer respectively under the National Social Security and Insurance Trust Act No. 5 of 2001, on diverse dates between September 2028, to October 2021, at No 6B Kamara Lane, Kamayama, Freetown, did fail to pay Social Security Contributions for its workers to the Trust within the required period.
After reading the charge to the defendants he pleaded guilty.
According to the lawyer representing NASSIT, UDF Sesay Esq. he told the Court that the school owed the Trust twelve million four hundred and twenty-one thousand seven hundred and thirteen Leones seventy-five cents. Lawyer Sesay further that justice should be done on behalf of his client.
In the plea mitigation, the Head Teacher Salifu Conteh told the Court that he brought three million Leones which he will pay immediately and asked for two months to pay the balance.
According to Independent Observer Newspaper, Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker ordered for the defendant to pay the three million Leones and pay four million Leones on 15th February 2022 and the balance to be paid on 28th February 2022. She fined him five hundred thousand Leones to be paid to the sub treasury of the Judiciary. The head was taken down to custody until he pays the fine.
