Ibrahim W Alusine Janneh, a 38-year-old herbalist, has been sentenced to eighteen months in prison after being found guilty of stealing NLe21,000 from a cash box belonging to a local woman. The verdict was delivered by Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown.

The court heard that on July 4, 2024, Janneh unlawfully took NLe21,000 in cash and three gold-colored bracelets, valued at NLe750, from the cash box at 22 AL East Brook Lane. The total value of the stolen items amounted to NLe21,750. Janneh confessed to the crime when the charges were read.

Sergeant 17649 Bangura I.S, representing the prosecution, informed the court that Janneh had no previous criminal history. Despite lacking legal representation, Janneh appealed for leniency. Magistrate Kekura considered the plea and imposed a sentence of eighteen months in prison or an alternative fine of NLe2,000.
