The Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC) on Friday, July 17, 2026, met with the All People’s Congress (APC) to assess the implementation of the National Unity Agreement as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen peace, accountability, and national cohesion.

The engagement followed a week-long series of consultations between the ICPNC and various state institutions to review progress on the implementation of the National Unity Agreement and the recommendations of the Tripartite Committee.

Discussions during the meeting centered on reviewing the outcomes of the week-long consultations, agreeing on a joint reporting framework for follow-up visits to assess implementation progress, and finalizing plans for regular monthly meetings between the APC and the Government to monitor commitments under the agreement.

According to the ICPNC, the engagements are intended to enhance accountability, promote constructive dialogue among stakeholders, and ensure measurable progress in the implementation of the National Unity Agreement and the broader national cohesion agenda.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating sustained engagement among key stakeholders to support the effective implementation of agreed reforms and foster lasting peace and unity across Sierra Leone.
