The Indian Community in Sierra Leone has provided $20,000 to the family of a three-year-old, Alhaji Lamrana Jalloh for a High-Risk Surgery in India.

This was disclosed during the handing over ceremony of the flight tickets and documents of payment of medical bills to the family at the Conference Hall of Choithram Supermarket at Rawdon Street in Freetown on Friday 24th March, 2023.

According to the Indian Representative in Sierra Leone, Harish Agnani of Choithram and Son, the child was diagnosed by a team of expert doctors thar were invited by Choithram Hospital for free treatment and surgery to people from different parts of the country few months ago.

It was during that period that the Doctors diagnosed the disease revealed that the child needed a High-Risk Overseas Surgery.

He furthered that the parents were surprised and worried as they could not afford the medical bill. They therefore contacted Rajesh Balani, who also contacted Harish Agnani for directives. With this development, the issue was referred to the Indian Community in Sierra Leone for urgent assistance.

As part of their own strides to help Sierra Leones in various sectors, the Indian Community came together and provided the sum of Twenty Thousand Dollars for the medical Bills, two tickers from Turkish Airlines for the child and Mother and for their daily upkeeping.

The sum of $1,000 was also provided so as to take care of their needs after the surgery in Indian as the two were expected to depart the shores of the country on Saturday, 25th March, 2023.

Other speakers like; Rajesh Balani, Rahit of Indian Mercantile Association, Manoj Rajwani of Emkay Stores, Devraj Budhwani of Guru Nanak Enterprise also noted the various contributions made by the Indian Community to the country.

They stressed that this is their home and as such, they are ready to contribute to national development at all times, as this would help to cement the good relationship with the people of Sierra Leone.
Mr. Harish Agnani prayed for the speedy recovery of the boy so that they would return to the country and live happily with his family.

Speaking on behalf of the parents, Mrs. Jalloh commended the timely intervention of the Indian Community and prayed that the Almighty God will bless them and their business would grow from strength to strength.

The event was climaxed with the handing over of tickets, receipts for the hospital bills and money for the upkeeping after the surgery.
