Popular Journalist Alex Lawrence Koroma has narrated his ordeals following the government demolition of his structure worth Over 250 million Leones.
Expressing his frustration, the former Radio Democracy producer took to social media with a post on his Facebook page expressing his frustration.
As a dedicated young journalist, Koroma revealed that he invested his hard-earned savings in purchasing a piece of land to build a home for his family.
According to Koroma, with sheer determination, he embarked on the construction, meticulously managing every aspect to ensure that his loved ones would have a place of comfort and security,
“We all know the life of a journalist in Sierra Leone. Despite the challenges and sacrifices, I poured over 250 million old leones into this dream excluding the purchase of the land, only to see it be torn down today,” he wrote on Facebook.
Koroma says “It feels like a betrayal in a country I thought was my own. The pain of witnessing my efforts reduced to rubble is indescribable. I am left speechless, heartbroken, and overwhelmed with a sense of hopelessness. In a world where justice and fairness should prevail, the injustice I have faced is unfathomable. I can only pray for strength and solace in this trying time,”
Koroma believes that the government’s decision to demolish the structure in favor of foreign interests left him devastated.
Shall we please know the side of the government, as to why the government demolished the house?
There was clear explanation why government destroyed the structure
You never ben informed before Demolished
All over the world when you purchased land owned by the government/ we the people of that country is a big mistake. Sierra Leone is no exception. Late Bobson Sesay of Blessed memory was Land minister demolished houses built on government land between 1996 to 1998 . Government will always advise people not to buy land owned by the government, in Sierra Leone we are in the habit of grabbing government land because of our connection failing to realize that my government connection will not last forever. Nothing Last forever. I hope we will learn from not to buy government property from individuals. Someone wants to sell a house, land please consult a lawyer.
Let the other party response to the allegation made by the journalist, if not it’s very difficult to judge.
The story is not clear, why did the government demolished the building. Grabbing of state land and private property is in the increase.
They usually go on with the idea that, as long as a building has been constructed, no one has the right to demolish it.
No mention of the reason for the demolition
Can Mr. KOROMA please give us the location of his hard worn home that was demolished ?
Please be patient Allah will solve your problem.
