Court of Appeal Judge presiding over cases at the Sexual Offences Model Court, Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda, has sentenced Samuel Brown, 21-year-old Driver to ten years imprisonment.
Accused Samuel Brown was brought before the Court on a one Count indictment of Sexual Penetration, contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act 2012, Act No. 12 of 2012, as repealed and replaced by Section 4(a) (ii) of the Sexual Offences Amendment Act 2019, Act No. 8 of 2019.
The accused pleaded guilty and pleaded for mercy. He told the Court that he was in a love relationship with the victim, a Child.
In his address, Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda told the Court that accused Samuel Brown did not waste the time of the Court.
“He is a first time offender based on the records presented by the Prosecutor, Y. I. Sesay Esq.,” said Honourable Justice Kamanda, adding that “the victim was not put through the agony of giving evidence.”
State Counsel Y.I.Sesay informed the Court that the plea of the accused in Court is consistent with his statement made to the police.
Pursuant to the above reasons, Justice Komba Kamanda sentenced the Convict to ten years imprisonment.
