Kambia District is gearing up for a strong showing at the upcoming “World Food Day” Crop Variety Exhibition in Kailahun District on October 16th, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture (MAF).
All 16 districts of Sierra Leone will participate, and Kambia has already emerged as a strong contender.
Led by Kambia District Council Chairman Mohamed Abdul Masarico Mansaray and District Agricultural Officer (DAO) Mohamed Turay, the district has mobilized an impressive team of farmers and stakeholders, determined to make Kambia proud.
A key moment was the ceremonial send-off of 15 vehicles loaded with local produce, showcasing Kambia’s agricultural prowess.
DAO Mohamed Turay, the district’s first-ever agricultural officer, has been instrumental in uniting diverse agricultural players and advancing local farming practices.
His inclusive approach, coupled with civil society collaboration and government support, has transformed Kambia into a formidable competitor at this year’s event. Chairman Mansaray expressed confidence, stating, “With our dedication and excellent preparations, I’m confident Kambia will emerge as champions this year.”
Key organizations such as Kambia District Development and Rehabilitation Organization (KaDDRO) and Goal Sierra Leone have bolstered the district’s efforts with logistical and resource support.
Their contributions, along with civil society advocacy, have ensured a cohesive and united front as Kambia prepares for the national competition.
As the Kambia District delegation heads to Kailahun, farmers and stakeholders are optimistic about their chances of returning as champions, representing the agricultural heart of Sierra Leone.
Kambia’s participation in this year’s World Food Day highlights the district’s growing agricultural excellence.
