Momoh Sawie made his first court appearance on Monday before Magistrate Mustapha Brima-Jah at Court No. 1, Pademba Road Magistrate Court in Freetown.

Sawie is standing trial on one count of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the charge sheet, on Thursday, 8th April 2026, at Wash Car, Hill Station in the Mountain Rural Area of the Western Area, the accused allegedly stole the following items belonging to Mohamed Saccoh, while they were in the custody of Alhaji Mansaray, One trip of dumper sand valued at Le12,000, One hundred head pans of granite stone, each valued at Le25 (total Le2,500), Seventy-five leaves of cotton tree timbers, each valued at Le125 (total Le9,375)

The total value of the stolen items is Le23,875.

Prosecutor CSP 17649 Zizer called the matter before the Magistrate. The charge was read and explained to the accused, who pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Magistrate Brima-Jah ordered Sawie to be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road. The case has been adjourned to Tuesday, 28th April 2026 for further hearing.

The prosecution is expected to present its witnesses when the matter returns to court.
