Magistrate Sahr Kekura of the Pademba Road Court No.1 has remanded in prison Ezekiel Bangura after making his fifth appearance before the court for alleged house breaking.

The accused person was stranding trial on 2 count charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and house breaking and larceny contrary to section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

The file sheet alleged that the accused Ezekiel Bangura on 12th May 2024, at Hill Top, Hill Station in Frectown, conspired with unknown persons to commit a crime.

It was further alleged that the accused on the same date and address in Freetown, with intent to steal, broke into and entered the dwelling house of one Stella Bendu and stole properties worth of one thousand Leone.

Properties allegedly stole by the accused include, Solar Power Bank valued Le2,000, one black color detective Smart Electronic Sunglase valued, €300, one Satellite Satcom decoder valued, Le650, one White Color Philips DVD Player valued Le300, one 4 terabytes Hard Drive valued Lle830, one black color brand Tape and Radio combined with USB compartment valued Le500, one Electronic Iron valued Le350, three big Black Bag Parks valued each Le250, one Electronic Sterbilizer valued Le 1,000, one electric Extension valued Le 150, one big size Megaphone valued Le300, set of assorted provisions all valued Le275, one weighing scale valued Le500, one water heater valued Le350, one small assorted color hand luggage valued Le350 and a fiscal cash of Le3,000, all to the total value of Le22,280, property of Stel’a Bendu.

Police Prosecutor, Sergeant 3999 Lahai brought in Stella Finda Bendu, who doubles as the complainant and witness in the case, to testify in court. The witness recognized the accused person as a member in her church, and recalled on the 12 May 2024.

She narrated that she received a distress call that her back gate to her home was found opened and that she rushed home after getting the information.

She further testified to her surprise she found out that the back of her zinc structure in the compound was ripped oper and that she found out that some of her property were missing.

She testified that she went to the Akon Police Station and filed a report abou the theft, and was accompanied by a police officer who took snapshots of the crime scene.

She further said that, one early morning when one of her neighbours came knocking at her door, telling her that someone has broken into her compound.

ÑShe said when she went out she saw the accused and thereafter shouted “stop thief’, and that the accused ran.

She said the accused was caught by some of her neighbours and that he was taken to the Akon Police Station.

The accused admitted that all what the witness said is true and has nothing to say to it.

The accused was unrepresented by any legal counsel, and bail was denied to him, and the matter was adjourned to the 1st August 2024 for further hearings.
