Justice Micheal Mamie has convicted and sentenced one Philip Mamie to a minimum of 15 years jail term for penetrating his step daughter.

The judgment was made at the sexual offences Model Court in Freetown.

The accused was convicted on one count indictment of sexual penetration which is contrary to the law of Sierra Leone.

The particulars of the offence states that the convict engaged in an act of sexual penetration with a girl child in Freetown on the 6th August 2019 and during the trial, he pleaded not guilty to the charged offense.

Testifying on oath, the victim told the court that, the convict was her stepfather and that, they stayed together with her mother.

Upon proving the prosecution case against the accused, the state prosecutor led four witnesses involving formal and factual respectively.

The victim recalled that on the aforementioned date whilst staying home with her father (the convict) the mother went out to buy some items and the convict took her to his bedroom, undressed her and forcefully inserted his penis into her mouth and vagina.

She furthered that, her father had severally penetrated her during day time and at night when her mother was asleep, adding that, at any time he penetrated, she would bleed and feel body pain.

The matter was initially reported to the approved school police post and the father was arrested for investigation.

Due to the abusive language and threatening remarks, the accused used on the victim and her mother, the victim was taken to Don Bosch Home for relative care and protection.

The then suspect was transferred to the Headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department on Pademba Road in Freetown on an attempt he made to escape at the police detention.

Olabisi Cladius Cole, the medical doctor who examined the victim confirmed that the victim suffered from a ruptured hymen with an offensive vaginal discharge odor, redness which the victim developed, and infection due to the force penetration.

The accused relying on his statement made to the police at the close of the case before the court and upon his selection as by law, the convict in the absence of his legal representative did not plead for mercy but stated that, he was not 100% guilty of the said offense.
