Marampa Mines Limited (MML) has officially handed over the newly constructed Kulafai Rashideen Islamic Primary School to the Kulafai Rashideen Islamic Mission and the Maforki community, marking a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to education, safety, and sustainable community development under its Community Development Action Plan (CDAP).
The new facility replaces the former school structure that was located near the Valley B Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), within the mining operational perimeter. Following consultations with community leaders, the decision was taken to relocate the school to a safer and more conducive environment.

The Kamara family, whose contribution was recognized with deep appreciation during the handover ceremony, generously donated the land for the new site.
The newly constructed school provides a safe, inclusive, and well-equipped learning space. Key features include:
• Six fully furnished classrooms
• An administrative office
• A six-room toilet block
• Accessibility ramps for inclusive access
• Two hand-pump water facilities for clean drinking water
• A spacious recreational field
• Secure fencing to ensure safety and controlled access

In addition to the infrastructure, Marampa Mines and its contractors Desams (SL) Limited and Mayfair donated school supplies, learning materials, sanitation tools, and sports equipment to support a functional and engaging learning environment for all pupils.
Speaking at the ceremony, MML Managing Director Angula Kalili reaffirmed the company’s dedication to sustainable development, stating:
“Today’s event reflects our dedication to a shared vision for lasting impact one that invests in people, strengthens communities, and supports the next generation to succeed.”

The Paramount Chief of Maforki Chiefdom, Koblo Queen II, expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the community, saying:
“This is a significant addition to our community. Your continued support for our local priorities is truly valued and strengthens our hope for a brighter future.”
Marampa Mines emphasized that education remains a cornerstone of community growth and resilience. By relocating and rebuilding the Kulafai Rashideen Islamic Primary School, the company is not only safeguarding the wellbeing of children and teachers but also investing in opportunities that will improve lives and strengthen the future of the Maforki community and Sierra Leone as a whole.
