The Chief Executive Officer of Born 2 Blog, Sahr Memphis, has been reportedly detained by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with a campaign-related social media post published several days ago in support of Mrs. Tuma Gento, according to a statement issued by Born 2 Blog.

The media platform disclosed that its CEO was taken into CID custody following concerns raised over the content of the publication. According to Born 2 Blog, officers handling the matter informed the organization that the post was considered potentially offensive and could be interpreted as being directed at Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Maada Bio.

However, Born 2 Blog maintained that the publication neither mentioned the First Lady by name nor was intended to target or insult any individual.

In its statement, the organization said its understanding is that the post was solely a campaign message expressing support for Mrs. Tuma Gento and her continued leadership.

“We respectfully maintain that the post did not mention the First Lady by name, nor was it intended to target or insult any individual,” the statement said. “Our understanding is that it was purely a campaign message expressing support for Mrs. Gento and her continued leadership.”

The media outlet also expressed concern over the circumstances surrounding the detention of its CEO and called for fair treatment and due process in the handling of the matter.

We trust that the facts will be carefully examined and that any conclusions reached will be based on the actual content and intent of the publication,” the statement added.

Born 2 Blog further reiterated its commitment to responsible communication, freedom of expression, and respect for the laws of Sierra Leone.

The organization urged all parties to allow the legal process to proceed fairly, transparently, and without undue influence while investigations continue.

As of the time of publication, the Sierra Leone Police had not publicly commented on the matter, and no formal charges had been announced by authorities.

Born 2 Blog said it would continue to provide updates as more verified information becomes available.
