The Paramount Chief of Kafe Chiefdom, PC Dr. Masakma Madibie II, has highlighted the consequences that may befall individuals engaging in the illegal selling of and or smoking kush in his chiefdom.

In a Chiefdom meeting held at the chiefdom headquarters town of Kamaruku on Tuesday 26th September 2023, the Paramount Chief ordered his sub-chiefs to be radical in dealing with those found smoking and selling Kush.

The Kush drug, the Chief said, is a threat to national development, especially the growth of young people.

“I have ordered you, the Section, and town Chiefs not to treat the issue of Kush and other harmful drugs lightly because it’s detrimental to our nation’s development,” the Paramount chief warned.

Because of the massive gold mining in the chiefdom, people from across the country go to the Chiefdom every day to do mining, trade, and other things.

The Paramount Chief said most of those engaging in mining are the ones selling and smoking Kush.

On that note, PC Masakma Madibie II said, there would be drastic actions against those found in possession of the drug in his chiefdom.

Before reaching that decision, the Paramount chief said, he had informed the police about his moves, and he said, the police were in support of his moves and ready to support him.

Therefore, he said, he would have no hesitation to fight against Kush smoking and selling, as long as Kafe becomes a Kush-free chiefdom.

Highlighting the dangers the Kush drug poses to society, the chief said, several of the country’s youthful population have gone mad, and have turned entirely useless.

“It’s because of this I won’t tolerate it [Kush] in my Chiefdom.” Just like President Bio, the Paramount Chief said, he’s also declaring a state of emergency on Kush in Kafe Chiefdom, and the consequences of those found wanting, the Chief said, would be great.

Responding to the call of the Paramount Chief, Chiefs and other people who made statements during the meeting described the Chief’s initiative as timely and in the right direction, and they assured him of their commitment to kicking out Kush from Kafe.

Kafe is a Chiefdom in Tonkolili District, Northeast region, and the Paramount Chief is the Chairman of the Council of Paramount Chiefs in the District.
