Prince Bindi, a 50-year-old, hailing from the Kenema district, has appeared before magistrate Gashion Lamin Marcathy, at the magistrate court number two in Kenema district.
The courtroom buzzed with anticipation as legal proceedings commenced in a significant legal milestone.
Bindi, is at the center of a three-count charge, linked to sexual penetration contrary to section 19 of the Sexual offence amendment act number 12 of 2012 as repealed and replaced by section 4 of the Sexual offense act number 8 of 2019.
Count two, sexual touching of a child contrary to section 20 of the Sexual offence act number 12 of 2012, and count three, meeting a child for sexual purpose contrary to section 23 of the sexual offences act number 12 of 202.
The alleged offense, as recounted by law enforcement authorities, occurred on July the 23rd, 2023, at 2 Mariama Street to Fatama Street junction in Kenema of Sierra Leone’s eastern province.
According to the police report, Prince Bindi is accused of engaging in an act of sexual penetration of a 9-year-old girl.
Magistrate Gashion Lamin Macarthy adjourned the matter to Monday, October 9, 2023, for the prosecution to bring witnesses number three to testify in court.
