The Sierra Leone Police, Lumley Division, has reportedly released Councillor Ibrahim Owen Bangura, who was recently arrested alongside 10 others in connection with the alleged murder of a young man during a land dispute at grassfield, Tokeh.

According to reports, the dispute arose over a piece of land that had already been placed under injunction by Justice Amy Wright. Despite the court order, Councillor Owen allegedly ignored the ruling and proceeded to the site with a group of individuals, reportedly issuing threats related to the land.

During the confrontation, a violent altercation ensued, resulting in the tragic death of a young man. Following the incident, police apprehended Councillor Owen and 10 others, detaining them at the Lumley Police Station for investigation.

However, new reports indicate that Councillor Owen has been released, while the 10 other individuals remain in custody. This development has sparked public concern, with many questioning why the police would release a suspect in an ongoing murder investigation while keeping others detained.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the councillor’s release, leaving many awaiting further clarification on the matter.
