Sierra Leone Police, Kamakwie division, Engaged Residents and key stakeholders of Sanda Loko Chiefdom on Wednesday, 29th April 2026, in a significant community engagement aimed at establishing a Local Policing Partnership Board (LPPB) to strengthen community policing efforts.

The engagement was led by the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of Kamakwie Division, Superintendent John S. Koroma, and his team.

Addressing the gathering, Superintendent Koroma explained that the meeting was convened to sensitize stakeholders on the ongoing transition of the Sierra Leone Police from a “force” to a “service,” emphasizing a people-centered policing approach. He highlighted the importance of community involvement in enhancing safety and security across the chiefdom.

The LUC paid homage to local authorities and acknowledged the presence of key stakeholders, including members of the Bike Riders Union. He expressed appreciation for their turnout despite their busy schedules and encouraged the selection of credible and disciplined individuals to serve on the Local Policing Partnership Board. He noted that the Board would be chaired by the Regent Chief, who will serve as the focal person.

Additionally, Superintendent Koroma further urged local authorities to expedite the formation of the Board, which will later play a critical role in establishing Community Safety Volunteers within the chiefdom.

Responding on behalf of his people, Regent Chief Pa Alimamy Komrabai Sesay commended the LUC and his team for the timely engagement.

He reaffirmed the importance of community participation in policing and echoed the call for residents to take ownership of security within their communities.

Following consultations with representatives from the seventeen sections of Sanda Loko Chiefdom, the Regent Chief requested additional time to conduct broader consultations to ensure that selected members are chosen based on merit. He assured the police team that the final list of nominees would be communicated promptly upon completion of the process.
