The Sierra Leone Police in Mile 91 have made significant arrests in a series of robbery incidents that plagued the CONEX Fuel Station throughout March and early April.
According to reports, the station was targeted multiple times between March 22 and April 8, 2024, resulting in substantial losses. The investigation gained momentum on April 9 when police, acting on a tip, executed a search warrant at a residence in Mafunday Village.
The search, led by the Local Unit Commander and his team, yielded several items suspected to be linked to the robberies, including phones, a power bank, and cash. The operation also led to the arrest of two men, John Kamara and Dennis Brown, who were taken in for questioning.
Further searches at nearby residences uncovered additional evidence, including a mattress and a crowbar. On April 10, police detained another suspect, Abass Koroma, who was not present during the initial raid.
Following rigorous interrogations, all three suspects confessed to their involvement in the robberies. This information led police to a secluded area behind the G-Complex Entertainment Centre, where they recovered a firearm, ammunition, and narcotics.
In a surprising turn of events, investigations revealed that Dennis Brown was an escapee from the Maximum Correctional Centre on Pademba Road, where he was serving time for a separate robbery.
The recovered items and confessions mark a significant development in the fight against crime in the township. Investigations are ongoing.
