Detective Police Constable (DPC) 18286 Patrick Mohamed Ngobeh made a significant arrest on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Fallah Checkpoint along the Bo Taiama Highway.
The arrest involved the discovery of ten (10) ounces of a substance known as Kush in possession of one Shuaibu Musa, residing at Ataya Base in Freetown.
The incident unfolded when DPC Ngobeh conducted a thorough search of a private vehicle with registration number AMP 198 when attempting to pass through the Fallah Checkpoint enroute from Bo to Freetown.
During the inspection of the vehicle, DPC Ngobeh uncovered a significant quantity of Kush, a narcotic substance. The total amount seized was approximately ten (10) ounces. The discovery led to the immediate apprehension of the individual claiming ownership of the illegal substance.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the Bo Regional Police Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) Department for further investigations.
This development follows a series of substantial drug-related apprehensions carried out in the region over the past few months. The Southern part of Sierra Leone has been vigilant in its efforts to combat illegal drug trade and its associated threats to regional security.
Under the leadership of the Regional Police Commander, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Kanneh, law enforcement officers continue to intensify their efforts daily in the fight against illegal drug activities. The recent arrest serves as a reminder of the unwavering commitment of the authorities to uphold the rule of law and protect the well-being of the community.
The Bo Taiama Highway remains a focal point for law enforcement agencies in the South as they work tirelessly to deter and apprehend individuals involved in illegal drug trade and other criminal activities.
AIG Kanneh has now ordered personnel deployed at various checkpoints to embark on continuous search on all vehicle plying their checkpoints excluding diplomatic vehicles to further maintain the region safe.
