The Sierra Leone Police has confirmed the arrest of six suspects in connection with armed robbery incidents that occurred about two weeks ago in Bo and Kenema.

These robberies on diverse dates resulted in the death of Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu in Kenema and left Mr. John Lamina, NASSIT South Regional Manager, seriously injured in Bo.

The arrest of the six suspects has shown significant progress in the ongoing investigations, as they were arrested due to intensified operations.

Those in custody include:

Gbassay Swarray, alias Success, previously linked to a murder case in Moyamba;

Joseph Kamagy Kamara, alias Shine;

Martin Sallu, an ex-convict;

Joseph Bangalie, alias Boika, also an ex-convict for felonious offences; Foday Sallu and

Foday Hassan Sesay, a receiver found in possession of one of Mr. Lamina’s stolen items.

According to the police, the suspects were apprehended with firearms and other housebreaking implements.

In a separate incident, a Sierra Leonean was arrested at Lungi International Airport for possession of unlawful substances. Police say investigations into both matters are ongoing, while a manhunt has been launched for other fugitives still at large in connection with the robberies.
