The Port Loko Civil Society Forum has called on civil society organisations and activists across Port Loko District to wear black on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in solidarity with the nationwide protest action initiated by the Native Consortium against rising fuel prices.

The Forum shared on Monday, June 29, in a flyer that the symbolic action is intended to demonstrate unity, peaceful resistance, and collective concern over the continued economic hardship facing citizens as a result of fuel price increases. It also stated that wearing black serves as a symbol of mourning, resistance, and a collective demand for government action to further reduce fuel prices and address the growing cost of living affecting ordinary Sierra Leoneans.

According to the statement, all civil society organisations (CSOs) are encouraged to wear black throughout the day in their respective offices and communities. The action is also aimed at reaffirming the commitment of civil society groups to peaceful advocacy and constructive engagement with authorities.

“We unite in solidarity with the Native Consortium and advocate for citizens by calling for a further reduction in fuel prices. This symbol of mourning, resistance, and collective demand stands for the welfare of our people,” the statement reads.
The solidarity action is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, across Port Loko District and other parts of the country participating in the nationwide fuel protest campaign.
