The Fulah community in Port Loko and Sierra Leone by extension is mourning the loss of Alhaji Wurrie Jalloh, a prominent tribal leader and deputy adviser of the Council of Fulah Tribal Heads.

Jalloh, who lived to the remarkable age of 102, passed away on March 11th at his village of Mappla in Port Loko District.

A respected figure within the community, Jalloh served as district Fula tribal head for many decades, and had a long history of leadership within the Fulah tribe. His passing marks the end of an era for the community he served so diligently.

The funeral service, held in Mappla village, attracted a large crowd, including several Fula and non Fula groups, stakeholders, and Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, to pay his respects.

Jalloh’s legacy will be remembered by the Fulah community, as well as the nation, for his commitment to preserving cultural traditions and his unwavering leadership throughout his long life.

Mr. Jalloh was not only a remarkable leader but also a successful farmer in both crops and cattle with a best farmer award. He owns a garden of approximately five miles and a large trench of cattle.
