The Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Pujehun Police Division, Superintendent Rashid Osman Koroma, has refuted allegations of negligence levied against the police by Traders Union Chairman Sheku Soko Tarawally and Civil Society Organisation (CSO) Chairman Ibrahim Borgiwa Swaray.
The allegations, which accused the police of failing to act promptly on a recent theft case in Pujehun town, were dismissed by Superintendent Koroma as “false and baseless.” He clarified that the police responded immediately after the incident was reported on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
“In response to the report, my officers swiftly initiated a search for the suspects. We successfully apprehended four individuals: Alusine Kamara, popularly known as ‘Thunder,’ Ibrahim Fullah, Yankuba Gandi, and Yusufu Lamin,” Superintendent Koroma disclosed. “The suspects were involved in a case of shop breaking and larceny, and they are currently assisting the police in the ongoing investigation.”
He also revealed that some of the stolen items were recovered from a location in Massam Fortune where they had been hidden.
Superintendent Koroma expressed disappointment over the allegations made by the Traders Union Chairman and CSO Chairman, arguing that such claims undermine the dedication and hard work of the police force.
“We are here to serve the public and protect lives and property. It is regrettable that baseless allegations are being made against us without verifying the facts. Our doors are always open for anyone seeking accurate information regarding our operations,” he said.
He further assured the public of the police’s commitment to upholding justice and maintaining peace in the district, calling on community members to collaborate with law enforcement by providing credible information to aid investigations.
Meanwhile, the four suspects remain in custody as investigations continue. Superintendent Koroma urged residents to remain patient and trust in the judicial process.
The police have reiterated their dedication to ensuring the suspects are brought to justice and the stolen property is fully recovered. Superintendent Koroma’s firm stance highlights the importance of maintaining trust and cooperation between the police and the community in Pujehun town.
