The Pujehun District Council has announced that revenue collected from local taxes, market dues, business licences, property rates, sand mining fees, and other internal sources is being invested in development projects across the district.

Among the Council’s ongoing projects is the construction of 20 modern lockable stores with wash facilities in Jendema Town, Sorogbema Chiefdom. Officials said the project is progressing steadily and is expected to improve trading conditions for businesses in the area.

The Council stated that the new stores will provide safer and more organised spaces for traders while supporting commercial activities between Sierra Leone and neighbouring Liberia.

According to the Council, the Jendema market project is one of several initiatives already implemented in Sorogbema Chiefdom. Other projects include the construction and rehabilitation of roads, culverts, bridges, and wash facilities in Peripheral Health Units.

Officials added that similar projects are ongoing in several chiefdoms across Pujehun District under the leadership of Chairman Foday Kandeh Rogers, councillors, staff, and relevant government agencies.

The Council said it remains committed to transparency, accountability, and sustainable development aimed at improving livelihoods across the district.
