The Regional Manager East, Lansana Ba Sawi and the Regional Human Resources and Administrative Manager East of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO), Brima Allieu have on Thursday 9th February 2023 visited authorities concern about the protection of dams and water catchment in Kamboi Hills.
The SALWACO Officers visited the Ministry of Mines and Marine Resources, the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning, and the Military and Environmental Protection Agency to engage them in ongoing illegal activities which include mining, timber logging deforestation which are affecting water catchment in the Kamboi Hills.
Regional Manager Mr. Sawi stated that these activities are affecting the dams and are leading to their closure which is not a good signal.
The SALWACO team receives a positive response from their engagement as they were assured to be supported in bringing the unfortunate situation to an end.
The team is planning in engaging more authorities to bring a lasting solution to the water catchment area at Kambio Hills.
