The National COVID-19 Emergency Response Centre (NaCOVERC) has said it has proposed a fresh lockdown in Sierra Leone following rise in COVID-19 cases in the country.
While speaking on Monday during its daily media update, NaCOVERC Spokesman, Solomon Jamiru said the proposed lockdown which may only affect Freetown have been proposed to the Presidential Task Force who will meet on Tuesday 19th January to discuss the proposal.
On Monday, Sierra Leone recorded 8 new Coronavirus cases to make up 870 active new coronavirus cases in the country. While 77 fatalities has been recorded, 655 persons are currently in isolation.
According to Jamiru, the rising COVID-19 infections recorded recently in the Sierra Leone has brought serious concerns which might require a fresh lockdown and other new protective measures.
