Mariama Kemokai, a single mother of four kids, who resides in Kailahun district has shared with Sierraloaded her plight with the windstorm that destroyed her home and left many others homeless. She is presently suffering the lack of shelter and other basic needs.
Kemokai’s house was among the houses that were destroyed by a windstorm that recently hitted the district. She is a mother caring for four children.
“I am a petty trader who is taking care of four kids who are schooling in various primary and secondary schools within Kailahun but as a result of the heavy wind, their clothes, food items, school materials, business goods, were all damaged beyond repairs.”

Adding to her homelessness, she disclosed that her little market was also destroyed in the house leaving them completely dependent on what friends and kindhearted neighbors give them.
Kemokai therefore urged the government, agencies, and humanitarian organizations to come to their aid, as her children currently stay at home during this second term exams period, since they do not have books, uniforms, and other school materials to attend.
