Following a preliminary investigation at the Magistrate Court, Alimamy N’jai Sesay a student of the Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone has been committed to the High Court for trial without bail.
Alimamy N’jai Sesay is standing trial on five counts of charges, Cyberstalking, bullying, sending hateful messages through a computer system, distributing racist material, and public insult.
It was alleged that between July and August 2022, Alimamy N’jai Sesay sent messages through social media (Whatsapp, Facebook) created by Abdul Will Kamara (Adebayor) that insulted the government of Sierra Leone and provoke citizens to commit breaches of the peace.
The charge sheet stated that Alimamy N’jai Sesay an FBC student on Friday 1st July 2022 sent hateful messages and on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022, and was also accused of distributing racist messages.
The alleged cyber matter was prosecuted by Sergeant 9155 with five prosecution witnesses testifying including two cyber officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) wherein the evidence was presented by the investigator and the exhibit clerk.
The matter was committed to the High Court for clarity on the charges and the consequences at the end.
