Unknown thieves have reportedly waged war on religious houses in the municipality of Koidu, this is as a result of the spate at which thieves have broken into Churches and mosques within the City of Koidu and have carted away properties worth millions of Leones.

Speaking to this medium, a close-door neighbour to the Christ Evangelical Ministries International who also doubles as the Chairlady of the aforementioned Church Olivia B. Pessima pointed out that at around 1AM last Sunday some unknown thieves broke into the Christ Evangelical Ministries International Church as Koeyor Community in Koidu City and carted away the Church properties worth millions of Leones.

Madam Pessima maintained that the unknown thieves were able to carry out their dubious activity because the Church had at least four days retreat in which every member including the securities attached to the said Church was also involved and as a result the securities were tired and whilst sleeping on that fateful night, the unknown thieves broke into the said Church and carted away properties belonging to the Christ Evangelical Ministries International in Koidu City.

The stolen itesm include one mixer, stabilizer, amplifier, Microphone and a smart android phone. She further revealed that whilst the unknown thieves were carrying out their nefarious activity one of the Church Security boys woke up and shouted thief, it was then one of the unknown thieves pull-put a knife and threatened the security boy that if he continues shouting, he was going to kill him.

The Chairlady continues that after the unknown thieves have successfully carried out their nefarious deal some neighbours of the Church also woke up and joined them to go in search of the unknown thieves.

She added that whilst they were in search of the thieves, the mixer of one of the stolen items was found nearby a bush closer to the Church in question

Meanwhile, residents of the Koeyor community have expressed insecurity in their community owing to the spate at which thieves attack them on every night basis and therefore called on the Sierra Leone Police especially the night patrol team to be making regular and robust night patrols in the Koeyor community, Koidu City.

Pastor Joshua Fomba is the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical Ministries International in the Eastern Region. In an interview with our correspondent on the issues, he said the act was very unfortunate as the stolen items were use to preach to a congregation of more than one thousand members.

“This is the second time thieves have broken into my Church and carted away properties belonging to th Church worth millions of Leones,” the man of God cried.

He further seized the opportunity to appeal to God -fearing and loving people to come to the aid of the Church as it is blessed to give in the house of God.

In a similar development, unknown thieves have also reportedly broken into the Masjid Mosque in Yormandu one Kissi Bona community in Koidu City. This is according to the aforementioned town Chief Mohamed Sehr Feller; He said a couple of weeks ago some unknown thieves broke into the said Masque and carted the following items; a mic, receiver to call Prayers, rugs and kettles which people use to perform ablution.

Fayia Kamanoh Deputy Superintendent of Police is the Head of Operations at Tankoro Police Divisional Headquarters Koidu City when contacted on the reported theft matters disclosed plans of intensifying their normal night patrols though his department lacks vehicles to patrol the length and breadth of the Municipality of Koidu.  He called on all and sundry to practice what he called community policing or neighborhood watch as security is everybody’s business.
