Earlier today, a heavy downpour in Tombo Park, Waterloo, resulted in the tragic drowning of three individuals and the destruction of properties worth millions of leones.
The normally bustling market is now submerged, with many shops inundated and the market at a standstill.
Mabinty Sesay, a petty trader, expressed her distress: “We buy our markets in the evening so that we could sell them in the morning, but when I came today, I met all my foodstuffs being washed away.”
The flooding has turned the area into a river, making navigation nearly impossible and sweeping away foodstuffs and market stalls.
Local authorities are assessing the damage and providing assistance to those affected, highlighting the need for improved infrastructure and flood management systems.
That particular place is a threat to many lives staying or passing there more especially in the rainy seasons
I ask on Government and other agencies to please make that place safer for people for the sake of Allah
The street is overloaded with people, vehicles, motorcycles etc which cause a heavy traffic in that area.
The market is overcrowded and unsafe for people
Government needs to really take this issue seriously.
