Highlighting the historical roots and values shaping Sierra Leone’s dedication, Ambassador Sowa expressed deep gratitude to UN peacekeepers, acknowledging their sacrifices for global harmony.

With a focus on the indispensable role of peacekeeping operations, Sowa stressed the evolution and expansion of UN Peacekeeping since 1948, advocating for a holistic review encompassing operational, financial, and humanitarian factors. Sierra Leone’s active role as a Police Contributing Country was praised, particularly emphasizing gender parity within peacekeeping missions.

Amidst rising insecurities and geopolitical tensions, the Ambassador urged for clear mandates, adequate resources, and adaptability in missions, commending the progress of the Secretary-General’s Action for Peacekeeping Initiative.
