A high-level delegation of the opposition All People’s Congress (All Peoples Congress) has met with President (Rtd) Brigadier Dr. Julius Maada Bio at State House in Freetown on Tuesday, 5th May 2026, in what both sides describe as a constructive engagement aimed at advancing national stability and democratic consolidation.
According to a press statement from the APC, the delegation included senior party officials and was led by Acting Chairman Ambassador Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh. The meeting, held at the State House Sierra Leone, was described as timely and necessary in the context of ongoing national dialogue processes.
The APC noted that discussions reaffirmed commitment to key national and political frameworks, including the 8-Point Communiqué of the International Moral Guarantors, the Tripartite Committee Recommendations, and the Agreement for National Unity. These agreements, the party emphasized, are central to rebuilding public trust, strengthening governance systems, and promoting accountability in Sierra Leone’s democratic process.
The party further stated that the engagement represents a positive step toward sustained dialogue between the government and the opposition. However, it stressed that such meetings must move beyond formal symbolism and result in concrete actions that address the pressing concerns of ordinary citizens.
Reiterating its political stance, the APC assured its members and supporters that participation in the dialogue does not weaken its role as an opposition party. It emphasized its continued commitment to remain vigilant, hold the government accountable, and at the same time contribute constructively to national development and unity.
The meeting comes amid broader efforts to implement post-election agreements and strengthen political trust between major stakeholders in Sierra Leone’s governance landscape.
